Lime LaCroix Soap Tutorial

I have seen LaCroix at Safeway but I have never bought it before.  I did not know that you could use it for soap making.  The Soap Queen has used it as an ingredient for her Lime LaCroiz Soap recipe.  This is a very fruity scented soap that was inspired for an In-The-Pot-Swirl.

Perfect Pineapple Soap Tutorial

I have to be honest, as a child I did not like pineapple very much,  But as an adult, I have grown to love it.  Here is a cold process soap recipe from The Soap Queen called Perfect Pineapple Soap. What makes this soap really interesting is the texture top.  I am not going to reveal how it was done....you will just have to find out for yourself but it makes it even more tropical like you have one right from the Hawaiian Islands.

Avocado + Spearmint Cold Process Soap Tutorial

I have heard of using milk, juice or beer instead of using distilled water in a cold process soap recipe. But I found this recipe from the Soap Queen that still uses distilled water but has avocado puree in it.  I have never heard of adding fresh fruit or vegetable purees to cold process soap before but according to the Soap Queen it has long been a staple in the soapmaking community.  She said purees can add color and skin-loving properties to the bar and it can give the soap a luxurious feelings.  Unlike some additives, avocado does not contain a large amount of sugar.  If you add sugar, which can be found in fruit, can cause excessive heat to a cold process soap batter and make it difficult to work with.  Are you interested in learning how to use avocado in a cold process soap?  Check out this intermediate project called Avocado + Spearmint Cold Process Soap Tutorial.  This project makes about three pounds of soap and takes 1-2 hour to make.

Pantone 2016 Spin Swirl Cold Process Soap (Two Ways!)

I guess most of you have hear of Pantone?  Well, most graphic arts, fashion designers etc. are familiar with the matching system that is a properitary color space used in a variety of industries primarily in printing but it has been used in the manufactured of color paint, fabric and plastics.  Each year, Pantone will predict trends and forecasts what colors will be hot for any given year.  And for 2016 the colors are Rose Quartz and Serenity (which happens to be a shade of blue.  It is not quite a periwinkle, but it is a nice color).  Since these colors have been selected as Pantone's colors of the year, The Soap Queen was inspired by these colors to create this cold process soap recipe called Pantone 2016 Spin Swirl Cold Process Soap (Two Ways!).  This is an advanced level project that will take you about 1-2 hours to make and will result in about four pounds of soap.

Emerald Swirl Cold Process Tutorial

Way back in 2002 I started off making soap the melt and pour technique. And since then I have collected a lot of flexible ice cube trays in a variety different shapes that I could use as soap embeds. Since I taught classes I have made a bunch of embeds for classes but I have not taught a class in awhile I thought maybe I could use them in a cold process soap batch.  And would you believe I found instructions on how to do this from The Soap Queen.  The tutorial post is titled Emerald Swirl Cold Process.  This recipe is for the intermediate cold process soapmaker and results in 3.5 pounds of soap. I may not make this particular recipe at the moment, I will try using the what I have at the moment and see how it goes. I do like the look of this project and I plan to try it in the future.

Tile Inlay Cold Process Tutorial

When I saw this Title Inlay Cold Process Tutorial on the Soap Queen site I thought it was totally cool!  In my crafting experience I have only done one title mosaic and that was way back when I worked at the Event Coordinator for the Michael's store in Redwood City.  Within the various building techniques and styles, the mosaic is among the most popular and recognizable. Created by placing small, multi-colored pieces of stone within cement, mosaics can be found in many Roman buildings. This tutorial was inspired by intricate mosaics, this Tile Inlay Cold Process project is sure to wow. With a cold process base and pieces of melt and pour to create the design, this soap brings together both soaping techniques.
