Apple Brown Sugar Wax Melts

Have you ever heard of wax melts?  Wax melts are scented pieces of wax without a wick.  They can give a slight scent in their hardened form; however, they are designed to be slowly warmed using a tart or wax warmer.  Once warmed, the scent of the wax will fill the room. So check out this project from Wholesale Supplies Plus called Apple Brown Sugar Wax Melts.

Holiday Teardrop CP Soap

Cold process soapmakers:  Here is a really interesting technique for your next batch - Holiday Teardrop.  What is the teardrop technique?  It is layering different colors of soap which forms a teardrop.  This recipe is designed with slow-moving oils to be poured at 90 degrees to keep the batter liquid enough to create the teardrop effect.  Even though colors of green, red and gold goes really great with Wholesale Supplies Plus White Christmas fragrance, I am sure you can change the colors and fragrance to fit any occasion.

5 Tips for Unmolding Cold Process Soap

I must admit, I am one of those who has a hard time waiting especially it comes to unmolding a batch of cold process soap.  The mold I have is similiar to the one pictured but it is not surrounded in a wooden frame.  Sometimes, I get anxious to unmold my soap.  The bars in the middle come out fine but the bars in the corners always seem to sick and come out broken. The Soap Queen recently wrote a post called 5 Tips for Unmolding Cold Process Soap that may have some good tips to help me out with this problem.  Hope the information helps you out if you are encountering any problems.

All About Gel Phase

In the past have you experienced a gelatinous look just after a few hours in the mold?  According to The Soap Queen, your soap batch is likely going through its gel phase.  If you are wondering why this happens it is because it is part of the saponification process when the soap gets hot--up to 180 degrees.  It does not affect the quality of the final bars, but it does affect the appearance of the bar of soap.  If you would like to learn more, read the recent posting from The Soap Queen called All About Gel Phase.
