Why cold process soap doesn't work as a shampoo (for most people)
Have you every wondering why cold process soap does not work as a shampoo? If you wonder why it does not work for you, you are not alone...it does not work for most people. The biggest reason for cold process soap does not work for washing your hair is the ph level. According to Point of Interest, shampoo are generally have a pH value of 6.0 or lower whereas soaps have a pH over 8. This means CP soaps are not pH balanced for our hair. If you would like to learn more about this topic, read Point of Interest's post called Why cold process soap doesn't work as a shampoo (for most people).
I have a B.A. in Mass Communication and took my first melt and pour soapmaking class in 2002. Since then I got hooked making my own bath and products. I have taken various courses in Soapmaking (Melt & Pour, Cold Process, Hot Process), lotion making (lotions, creams, lotion sticks), bath products (bath salts, body scrubs), body products (lip balm, body butters, body balms, whipped butters) and more. Most of all of my classes were taught by Lori Nova of The Nova Studio in Point Richmond, Ca. I have taught courses since 2004 at various locations. I have worked as an Event Coordinator at Michaels Redwood City.
