Blue Rimmed Cold Process Soap Tutorial

I first saw a similar project on Wholesale Supplies Plus but it was a rectangular shaped soap, now I found this one called Blue Rimmed Cold Process Soap on The Soap Queen website.  It is an advanced technique that involves several steps.   A layer of swirled soap has to be created in a loaf or slab mold.  After it has hardened but still alittle soft, the soap is sliced horizontally into thin strips and carefully molded on the rim of a heavy duty column mold.  Finally, a batch of soap is pour in the center.   When it is finally ready to be sliced it, the soap will look like in the picture.  It looks really cool.

Taiwan Swirl Soap Recipe

On my Facebook page, I am friends with SoapMaking Essentials. They recently shared this tutorial on how to do a Taiwan Swirl Soap. I thought this to be a really cool technique but it requires quite a few dividers to get this effect.  But one day I am going to try this technique.  I think it would be a great looking bar of soap to sell.

Electric Lemonade Column Pour Tutorial

Have you ever tried doing the column pour technique before? It involves pouring layers of soap on top of a column shaped tool.  As more layers are poured, the soap spreads through out the mold creating more fun patterns depending on the shape of your column tool.  This advanced project  called Electric Lemonade Column Pour Tutorial from The Soap Queen looks really cool and I will have to try it sometime.  It yields about 12 pounds of soap.

Tile Inlay Cold Process Tutorial

When I saw this Title Inlay Cold Process Tutorial on the Soap Queen site I thought it was totally cool!  In my crafting experience I have only done one title mosaic and that was way back when I worked at the Event Coordinator for the Michael's store in Redwood City.  Within the various building techniques and styles, the mosaic is among the most popular and recognizable. Created by placing small, multi-colored pieces of stone within cement, mosaics can be found in many Roman buildings. This tutorial was inspired by intricate mosaics, this Tile Inlay Cold Process project is sure to wow. With a cold process base and pieces of melt and pour to create the design, this soap brings together both soaping techniques.

Two Tone Layered Cold Process Soap Technique

In a recent newsletter from Brambleberry, Anne-Marie discusses how to make this Two Tone Layered Soap in a Vertical Wooden Soap Mold. When I saw this mold, I thought it was really interesting making the layered soap in the upright position. When I took Ruth Esteves's Advanced Cold Process class at The Nova Studio, students learned how to make this type of soap the horizontal way. If you are interested in learning how to make this soap the horizontal way, I believe this class is now offered through The Nova Studio's newly formated Two Day Soap Bootcamp. I am not sure if this class will be offered as a stand alone class again. In step 2 of the directions, Anne Marie provides a link to watch an informational instructional videos on cold process soap. I would recommend watching them if you need a refresher.

The ingredients and tools for the layered soap by Brambleberry are 15.4 oz Olive Oil , 13.2 oz Coconut Oil , 11 oz Palm Oil, 4.4 oz Palm Kernel Flakes, 6.57 oz Lye, 4.52 oz Water, 2 oz Annatto infused Sweet Almond Oil, 2 oz Alkanet infused Sweet Almond Oil, 1 oz 10X Orange Essential Oil, 1 oz Amber Fragrance Oil, 1 oz Black Tea Fragrance Oil and Vertical Wood Log Mold.
