Since it is summer time and you know what time it is?  Fair time. With all the fair treats out there, one stick out in my mind - Cotton Candy.  I have to be honest one of my favorite scents that I use in my products is Pink Sugar. It smells a lot like Cotton Candy.  One of the sites I follow is The Soap Queen and recently she posted this cold process soap recipe called Cotton Candy. Since I really like this fragrance I will definately have to try and make this soap recipe.

In this July 3rd article, the author had decide to make soap without palm oil.  And this is her recipe.  Since the author does water discounting especially with recipes high in olive oil because I don’t want to wait forever for the soap to set up to be unmolded and cut.

I have had heard of shea, cocoa and mango butter but I have never heard of coffee butter until I saw this Recipe for Coffee Butter Cold Process Soap on the Soap Queen website. According to The Soap Queen, Coffee Butter is just one of those fun and unique ingredients that we’re intrigued with. It’s luxurious, rich and it feels like it can wake you up on one whiff! Just the smell alone makes me smile. It’s perfect for a mocha lip balm, lotion, body butter or cold process soap recipe. So if you have friends or family who loves coffee, then any body products with coffee butter would be a perfect jolt to their routine.

Peacock Swirl in Cold Process Soap Recipe and Video

There are many swirl technique instructions out there on the internet.  Then I came across this Peacock Swirl in Cold Process Soap from the Soap Queen.  I have never heard of this type of swirl before. But according to The Soap Queen, the Peacock Swirl is a marbling style that has been around for centuries and the technique has become very popular in the soapmaking community. This is an advanced technique so be sure to brush up on the basics before you try this one.

Love lavender? How would you like to create your own? I happened to find this tutorial on a blog titled Arctida's Creations. Handmade Lavender Soap with Shea Butter Tutorial.  I am not an experienced cold process soapmaker by any means, I have only taken a class, but I would like to actually want to attempt to make a batch. 

Modern Cherry Blossom Cold Process Soap Recipe

In honor of Spring, The Soap Queen has created this Modern Cherry Blossom cold process soap recipe.  This soap is scented with Brambleberry's popular Cherry Blossom fragrance oil (on sale this month!)and it is  made using the faux funnel technique, but with a twist: a vertical mold!  Just a warning :  This project is for the intermediate cold process soapmaker.  It should take 45-60 minutes plus curing time to make.  And you should get 12 bars of soap once you are done!

I love seeing pictures of the Cherry Blossoms bloom in Washington DC. I have never been to see this exordinary event and I would say this is on my bucket list. But until I get a chance to do, I can make these Cherry Blossom Cold Process Soaps from The Soap Queen. This is an advanced recipe which should take one hour to complete (allow time for curing) and you should get 12 soaps. What is really great is that is a great opportunity to make these soaps in the newest silicone molds.

Vertical Sandalwood Vanilla Soap

Here is a cold process soap recipe with a twist. As you may or may not know vanilla content in some fragrance oils can really cause discoloration. This recipe for a Vertical Sandlwood Vanilla CP Soap
from the Soap Queen demonstrates how to incorporate the discoloration and wind up with a really neat bar of soap. This is an intermediate project which takes 50 minutes to make without curing time. Once completed you should get 73 ounces.

This New Soap Design Soap Tutorial shows you how to make this beautiful soap which has a bottom swirled layer and then the top layer has an unique funnel design which almost looks like a flower.

Bubble Gum Soap Recipe - Cold Process

When I saw this cold process soap recipe called Bubble Gum Soap on the Soap Making Forum site I had to check it out. If you have kids that do not like to take a bath, this recipe may be the soap for you. If you are vegan I would suggest using palm oil or crisco instead of tallow. And since this recipe is calling for a bubblegum fragrance oil, make sure that the fragrance oil you purchase can work in a cold process recipe. The ingredients you will need for this recipe are 8 oz soft water; 3 oz lye, 7 oz crisco, palm oil or tallow; 7 oz coconut oil; 6 oz olive oil; 1 oz jojoba oil; 1 oz Bubble gum fragrance oil, and Imperial Red Mica to color.

MP Loves CP

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, wouldn't this be a really adorable soap to make and give as gifts? Anne Marie aka The Soap Queen is really in love with Brambleberry's new silicone cube mold that she even designed a brand new mini heart mold specifically for embedding in the cube mold. In this tutorial she uses the technique of combining melt and pour with cold process soap is super simple with lovable results. She says that it is even easy enough for CP beginners! It should take you 45 minutes (not including curing time) to make this recipe. Once completed you should get 5 pounds of soap. Column Swirl Soap

This column swirl soap pattern reminds me of this fabric pattern from the 80's. How would like to recreate this pattern in your bars of cold process soap? This columun swirl soap tutorial appears in two parts on the Lovin' Soap website. Both Part one and Part two of the tutorial has all of the photos on how to recreate this soap. The ingredients you need for this particular cold process project are 12 oz coconut, 8 oz olive, 7 oz palm, 2 oz jojoba, 1 oz castor.

Neapolitan CP Soap for Valentine’s Day

Here is a really cute idea for a Valentine's day gift - Neapolitan CP Soap. This intermediate tutorial appears on the website of the very famous Soap Queen should take you 45 minutes to make and yields 2.5 pounds of soap. What I really found interesting was how the hears on the top of the soap were made. Interesting enough, the invidiually colors are contained in squeeze bottles. I would have neve thought of that.

Almonds, Chocolate and Lavender (CP Soap Tutorial)

As I browosed my daily listings of the sites I follow, I came across this interesting cold process recipe for Almonds, Chocolate and Lavender on The Soap Queen's blog - Soap and the Finer Things in Life. I thought that chocolate and almonds in a soap recipe, but I was not sure how the lavender plays a part or effect the other two. According to the introduction, the fragrance oil blend of chocolate and lavender is a gourmet candy like combination (think sophisticated foodie chocolate). This fragrance combonation is added to almond milk byproduct of almond meal is a gentle exfoliant and a lovely way to get a little more cleaning power from your bar. When reading this recipe, it gave me the idea it would be the perfect gift for the foodie in your life or given to your sweetie at Valentine's Day.

Holiday Woodlands Soap

If you are a cold process soap maker and are looking for a different soap recipe to make this holiday season, check out ths Holiday Woodlands Soap recipe is from Skincare Naturals . The reason why the scenting is called Angel Wings is because the author describes the scent as delicate, light and pretty scent, just right for Christmas. She says that the batch comes out more beige than white. She suggested trying using some vegetable lard but I think that using titanium dioxide or zinc oxide may be a better suggestion. Does anyone out there have any other suggestions?
