Holiday Cookie Dough Scrubs

One of my favorite scents is Pink Sugar Angeline.  It smells so much like cotton candy.  I know it is strange put that fragrance oil in my lotions and scrubs thinking that you might smell like something sticky sweet, but I just love it.  Another fragrance I love is cookie dough.  And here is a scrub recipe from Natural Beauty Workshop called Holiday Cookie Dough Scrub.  This would be a perfect item to make for gifts for the holiday season.

Mojito Body Scrub

I never drank a mojito before, but I did love the fragrance when I took a cold process class at The Nova Studio.  I want to recreate in a soap batch one day.  But while searching the Aura Cacia website for the possibility of purchasing some essential oils, I found that they have recipes.  And the one that totally stuck out like a sore thumb was Mojito Body Scrub. If you love using body scrubs and love the aroma of mojitos, then this recipe is for you.

Olive Oil Scrub Tutorial

The Soap Queen has started a new series on her site called Roman Holiday.  And the first project in this series is a simple Olive Oil Scrub.
According to the Soap Queen, this scrub is perfect for the legs and body.  It is scented with the warm citrusy Neroli and Shea Blossom which leaves a wonderful light scent that is perfect for summer.  Remember that this is an oil scrub so be careful when getting out of the bath or shower because it can make the bottom of your tub or shower slippery.

Ginger & Fennel Body Mask

I have used a facial mask before but I have never heard of a body mask. According to The Natural Beauty Workshop, body mask are a great way to cleanse and detoxify the often neglected skin on your arms, legs and torso.  Just like a facial mask, deep cleansing ingredients are used to help mobilize toxins, draw out clogged pores, and increase skin's circulation.

So are you interested in trying a body mask?  Here is a Ginger and Fennel Body Body Mask recipe from The Natural Beauty Workshop.  What is so great about this recipe? Ginger and Fennel are both great at helping blood flowing, which can lead to reduced cellulite and clear skin.  Dead Sea Mud is packed with beneficial minerals which makes it great base for a body mask.  If Dead Sea Mud is too intense for your skin, then substitute a gentler clay like White Kaolin.n  Just want to warn you that this recipe makes a large portion so that you will have enough to massage gentley all over your body. It is best to use when it is fresh, but you can store any extra in your refrigerator for two to three days.

Warming Choco Chai Body Scrub Recipe

I found this Warming Choco Chai Body Scrub recipe on CraftGossip.com,which happened to be orginally posted on Beauty Buffet , to be a combination of ingredients that could be found in a local grocery store.  Just to tell you the recipe called for one tablespoon of milk.  It does not specify if it is powdered milk or not but I am guessing that it maybe since you will be putting it into a tea bag.  So this would be a clever gift to make and give out as party favors at a shower.

SoapyLove Body Scrubs Recipe and Video

Do you love using body scrubs in the shower? SoapyLove's Debbie Chialtas has recently posted on her blog SoapyLove's Daily Ditties  a recipe for a Sugar and Salt Scrub. In this recipe you can choose to use sugar or salt and a choice of oils. All of the supplies can be purchased through Brambleberry or your local heath food store.  This is a very simple recipe and Debbie gives two really good tips. One is about the proportions of the sugar/salts and oils.  You can change the ratios to your liking and you will not make any mistakes.  And the second one is in regards to using the product.  It can make the shower floor slippery.  So what Debbie suggests squirting a little shampoo on the shower floor and swirl it around with your feet and wash off the excess oil.  Also I would like to mention if you want to see a demonstration of making this product make sure to click on the link to view the video on Kin Community.

The Living Dead Sea - Part 2 - Dead Sea Salt Recipes

Erica from The Bonnie Bath Company recently posted Part 2 Dead Sea Salt recipes on her blog Bath Alchemy - A Soap Blog and More. The salts of the Dead Sea are used primarily for drawing out toxins, dirt and oils from the skin. They are used to exfoliate and revitalize the health of the skin. They can be used in soaks and scrubs, but cannot be used in soap, as they cause the soap to sweat excessively.  There are four nice recipes for you to try: Breathe Easy Bath Salts, Ginger Orange Milk Salts,  Margarita Body Scrub and Minty Solid Salt Scrub

I think the first recipe I am going to try the Minty Solid Salt Scrub.  It seems very similiar to a solid sugar scrub recipe I learned how to make in a class I took at The Nova Studio.

Debbie's "Best Ever" Peppermint Scrub

Debbie's "Best Ever" Peppermint scrub recipe has been used by Debbie May from Wholesale Supplies Plus for over 3 years. It has been a proven best seller for private label customers and now she has made it available to YOU! Feel free to change the fragrance and color to your liking if you wish. For those that cater to the ice cream novelty industry, it makes the perfect scoop-able "ice cream style" scrub! FYI the base is premade, so if you are looking for all natural recipe you will have to look elsewhere. If you have not made a foaming bath whip before, then I would recommend purchasing the premade base.

Foaming Pumpkin Salt Scrub

Love pumpkin pie? Love using a salt scrub in the shower? Why not combine the two and make this Foaming Pumpkin Salt Scrub recipe from Wholesale Supplies Plus. All supplies can be purchase from WSP.

This recipe includes an ingredient called foaming bath whip which may have some artificial ingredients in it. I do not know if you can make in a natural form. So I am going to throw it out to my readers and ask if there is anyway to make foaming bath whip from scratch? And how do I make it?

Neopolatin Ice Cream Scrub

As a kid did you love a Neopolatin Ice Cream Sandwich? Well you may want to try this recipe for a scrub in your favorite ice cream treat. I have to be honest with you, I am not sure where I originally found this recipe because the link is broken, but I thought it was interesting enough to share. If anyone knows this recipe belongs to, please let me know. But the most interesting ingredient is the Shealoe Butter. I never heard of it before and wonder if it is similiar to shea butter. So I decided to look into what is is. I found out that Shealoe is a combination of Shea butter and Aloe Vera. If you would like more information on Shealoe, then I would recommend the DIY Skincare blog which has the information on this ingredient. If you are interesting in learning more about Shealoe, I am sure that there are other resources out there with more information on it. Like most handmade skin care products, this Scrub should be used up quickly, as it has not been formulated for long term storage.

The ingredients needed for this recipe are 6 ounces Shealoe Butter, 1 1/2 cups Dendritic Salt, 1/2 teaspoon Milk Chocolate Fragrance Oil, 1/2 teaspoon Strawberry Fragrance Oil, 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Non-Browning Fragrance Oil, (1) .15 cc scoop of FDA Red Mica and (2) .15 cc scoops of Umber Oxide.

To make this recipe you will need to following these instructions. In a large mixing bowl combine the Shealoe Butter and Dendritic Salt. Shealoe is naturally soft, so you should be able to mix this without heating the Butter. However, if it is necessary, you can heat the Butter gently by warming the container in hot water. (Be careful not to let the water get inside the container though.) After the Butter and Salt are fully mixed, split the mixture into three parts in three seperate mixing bowls. Add one Fragrance Oil to each bowl, thouroughly mixing each into the mixture. Next, add two .15 cc scoops of Umber Oxide to the Milk Chocolate scented batch of salt, and mix well to combine. Add 1 .15 cc scoop of FDA Red Mica to the Strawberry scented batch of salt next. Leave the Vanilla scented batch uncolored. Once the batches are fully mixed they can be spooned into jars.

Easy Body Scrub Soaps

Want to create your own textured aromatic soaps that will gently remove unwanted dead skin cells and leave your skin soft and healthy looking, not to mention clean? You should check out this tutorial from Majestic Mountain Sage on how to create Easy Body Scrub Soaps.

If you are wondering, the ingredients in the glycerin melt and pour soap base from The Sage are Glycerin, Sodium Cocoate, Sodium Stearate, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Propylene Glycol USP, TEA Lauryl Sulfate, Sorbitol, Acetamide MEA, Sodium Laureth Sulfate. White soap also contains Titanium Dioxide. They also sell an Olive Oil version if you are interested. These version are not a suspension version so you will have to adapt the dry scrub ingredient appropiately ie start off with a small amount and stir. You do not want the ingredient to settle at the bottom of the soap.
