Calamine Lotion Soap Recipe

I remember as a child going camping and unfortunately get bit by a mosquito or a bout of poison oak.  So I would often use Calamine Lotion to relieve the itching.  While looking for some other unique melt and pour projects I found this one on the website From Nature with Love called Calamine Lotion Soap. If you are going to be spending time camping or out at dusk, you may want to prepare this soap to help relieve some of the scratch due to mosquito bites or poison oak.

Citrus Summer Mist Recipe

May is not even over yet and here in California we have already had some really hot days.  So I suspect there maybe more.  Before it gets really hot again, I think I am going to make this recipe for Citrus Summer Mist from Saffire Blue. It is an easy formula that smells great and will enliven and refresh the most stagnant personal space that needs it during the summer season.  You can use this mist to refresh everything from home linens to the air around you.  Just to let you know that this product is not to be used on the skin as a toner on the skin/face or as a body spritz. It is really only to be be used in the air and on linens.

You can have complete control over how much it sparkles, fragrance (or the lack there of) and the sparkle you choose.  That is what is so great about making yhour own bath and body products.  So if you are interested in learning about making your own Glitter Body Gel, then make sure to check the instructions.

Lemon Cream Body Butter Recipe

Yum!  Lemon Cream Body Butter from Saffire Blue is a delicious recipe for the body. Just wanted to let you know that this recipe calls for 6 tablespoons of cocoa butter.  It does not specify whether it is the natural or deodorized.  I am presuming that it would be deodorized since natural (has the smell of chocolate) would not smell that great with lemon.   This recipe makes one cup and should be used promptly.

Rose Garden Cold Process Soap Tutorial

Already this month I found two lotions recipes that revolved around roses and now I found this cold process soap tutorial from the Soap Queen called Rose Garden Cold Process Soap.  This is a two-part soap recipe so it is more intensive than some of the other cold process soap recipes that The Soap Queen has shared.  I really like how the rose is piped on a bar of soap that looks like stems.  This would be a great favor for bridal showers, weddings or any other appropiate event.

Homemade Liquid Laundry Detergent Recipe

I know that this blog is dedicated to bath and body products, but since I share recipe on how to make your own soap this recipe for liquid laundry detergent qualifies to be shared.  This recipe for Homemade Liquid Laundry Detergent originally appears on the Fan of Stuff, but I found it through a site I follow called Totally Tutorials.  It seems like a very simple recipe - only 3 ingredients, but I find it confusing about how much soap you need.  It calls for 1/2 bar of grated soap, but what is the originally weight of the bar of soap?  4 oz?  The picture looks deceiving.  If anyone out there knows, please share. I would be interested to know so that I can try this recipe.

Jazzed about Gel Phase

According Anne-Marie (The Soap Queen), "Gelling" and 'gel phasing' in cold process soap refers to a part of the saponificaion (soap making) process where the soap gets warm (around 180 degrees) and gelatinous. If you are new to cold process soap making, this is extremely common and you most likely have experienced it. Gelled soap is more hard in the first few weeks after pouring because it evaporates its water a bit faster than non-gelled soap.  Gelled soap also has more transparent and shiny look than non-gelled.  Do not worry because non of these things affect the final outcome of the soap after a full cure.

So, are you are like me and want to learn more about this topic.  Anne-Marie has written an informative posting titled Jazzed about Gel Phase that tells you everything you need to know.  After finishing this I am going to read it all the way through.

How To Make A Headache Healing Balm

While checking my Facebook page, I saw this posting from DIY Home World on How to Make a Headache Balm.  I had to scroll down to get to the link that led me to the site called Henry Happened , which actually had the recipe for Herb-Infused Balms for Healing Headaches. To tell you the truth, I have not used a balm for a headache before because I rarely get headaches. This would be interesting to try especially the recipe that includes lavender (which is meant for relaxation).  Now I must warn you that this posting does not give you exact amounts you need to make these recipes so read the posting all the way through in order how to make them.
